It's a small, self-guided, one-room, museum in downtown Mellen. It's worth a stop and it's great for a rainy day, if you're interested in the town's history. It tells the story of local residents, the industry that came and went and it gives you a good understating of what life was like in the North woods 100 years ago. Plan for about 30 minutes -1 hour.

Spectacular waterfalls make Copper Falls State Park one of Wisconsin's most scenic parks. Log buildings built by the Civilian Conservation Corps in the 1930s add to the park's charm. The park offers camping, hiking, bicycling, picnicking, fishing and swimming opportunities in Loon Lake. The 1.7-mile Doughboy's Nature Trail, along the Bad River, is one of the best hikes in Wisconsin.

Wildwood Haven Resort is located in a Dark Sky area, with low light pollution, making out campground a great place to see the Milky Way any night without cloud cover. You may get lucky and even catch a meteor shower or the Arora Borealis.

The Apostle Islands National Lakeshore consists of 21 of the 22 Apostle Islands plus a 12-mile strip of mainland shore line, and 18 of these islands are in Ashland County.

Loop trails for easy walking, trailhead shares the same parking lot as the Penokee Mt. Overlook.

The mainland ice caves have developed quite a reputation over the years as a "bucket list" winter activity.
Visiting the caves in winter requires at least a 2 mile hike (round trip) on the ice of Lake Superior.

The Mellen Country Club is open to the public. They offer a challenging par 36, nine hole course, as well as a full service bar and menu.

Bayfield’s location near Lake Superior and the Apostle Islands creates a unique micro-climate, which allows fruits and berries to flourish on the land surrounding the city.

This is one of the most impressive waterfalls in all of Wisconsin. The waterfall is large, easy to find and provides all sorts of opportunities for exploration. There is also a nearby upper falls that is equally as impressive.

Big Top Chautauqua is Wisconsin’s most unique entertainment venue – a 900-seat, state-of-the-art, theater located at the base of Mt. Ashwabay, just south of Bayfield, off Highway 13. This is the best single waterfall in the Western U.P, and the second best waterfall in Michigan.

Here are two popular trails - one leading to the 70-foot high Morgan Falls and the other to a scenic overlook at the top of St. Peter's Dome.

Racing begins mid-May and continues every Saturday night until the end of August.

The Clam Lake elk herd was estimated to be approximately 190 individuals as of March 2019. An interactive touch screen kiosk has been retrofitted into an existing sign board located at the junction of state highways 77 and GG.

Short hike to top of hill, follows old road to fire tower - now gone. Rock outcrops at top of hill. Just west of Penokee Overlook on GG.

The Wisconsin Concrete Park is an outdoor museum with 237 embellished concrete and mixed media sculptures built between 1948 and 1964 by Fred Smith, a retired lumberjack and self-taught artist and musician.

A very scenic waterfall, and easy to get to. Located in Copper Falls State Park. There are many other waterfalls in the area, including two others in the park.
